There’s no shortage of compact crossovers to choose from today, and most bring nothing new to the segment. The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan distinguishes itself with its incredible ride and driving dynamics, as well as a long list of technology features that come courtesy of the automaker’s Audi division. When you buy the Tiguan at one of the Volkswagen car dealerships in Bakersfield, you’ll get two years of scheduled maintenance visits at no charge.
The 2020 Tiguan’s turbocharged powerplant provides a good combination of great fuel economy and excellent performance. According to the car dealers near Bakersfield, the Tiguan is one of the only vehicles in its class that has an available third-row seat. New features for 2020 include newly standard safety features on all models, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. Also standard is VW’s Car-Net system with optional Wi-Fi. The SEL trim now has rain-sensing wipers and a heated steering wheel.
The automotive press gives kudos to the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan, with Car and Driver writing: “There's so much sameness amidst the multitude of compact crossovers that it's refreshing to find something—anything—substantially different among them. But the Tiguan succeeds in setting itself apart in a very useful way: an available third row. Between the Tiguan's seven-passenger capability and flexible interior...VW's smallest SUV makes good use of its larger exterior footprint than the segment norm by delivering outsized practicality.”
The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan seats up to seven passengers and is available in five trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, SEL, and SEL Premium R-Line. Front-wheel drive is standard across the lineup and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is optional. Front-wheel-drive models come configured with three rows, while all-wheel-drive Tiguans get two rows standard, with the third row available as an option.
Powering the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine features a start/stop system designed to improve fuel economy. The Tiguan gets an EPA-estimated 22/29 mpg with front-wheel drive 20/27 mpg with all-wheel drive.*
To keep the driver and passengers safe, the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan includes both passive and active safety systems. Standard safety gear includes six airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor and a rearview camera. Also standard is Volkswagen’s Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which can apply the brakes when it detects a collision, reducing the residual kinetic energy that could lead to further damage. VW’s Intelligent Crash Response System shuts off the fuel pump, turns on the hazard lights and unlocks the doors if the Tiguan is involved in some types of collisions.
The SE trims include automatic climate control, wireless charging, heated front seats, push-button start and keyless access
